What I Learned Today 12/10/14

Please note: A People's History of the United States is a 1980 non-fiction book by American historian and political scientist Howard Zinn. In the book, Zinn seeks to present American history through the eyes of the common people rather than political and economic elites.

So, when you see Sage's chapter summaries, the history will be much different than the history you probably learned in school. Most history textbooks are full of historical errors, biased accounts, and serious omissions. I wanted him to have a true account of what really took place.

History/The Evil Christopher Columbus:

When Christopher Columbus came to America, the first thing he saw in the Indians were servants. To learn where the best place to find gold is, he imprisoned the Indians and forced it out of them. His evil ways went on and on, killing hundreds of thousands of innocent Indians until they all died. When other Indians heard about Christopher Columbus finding and killing most Indians, a lot of them killed themselves with poison to insure their death was not by being killed. He continued the journey back and forth for a number of times killing more and more of the Indians on each trip. It really shows you how sometimes the best way to learn isn’t from the people who were victorious but the people who were punished by their loss.

To Kill A Mockingbird:

ch.8

One cold day, Jem and Scout find that it is snowing! They set a goal in their mind that they should build a snowman! They go and borrow some snow from their neighbors and make a nice snowman! Early at 1 o' clock, they find that fire has sprung loose in the town! They come and wait until the fire goes out or something else happens.

ch.9

For Scout and Jem it was Christmas. And that meant for a lot of annoying family members. Being around them, some of them were quite rude, especially about Atticus. But they at least got just what they wanted for Christmas: an air rifle for each of them!

ch.10

Scout has been wondering why Atticus just sits and reads all day and doesn't do anything that is interesting. but when a dog came around with rabies, Scout and Jem soon learned Atticus' special talent for shooting.

Geography:

I am working on my map of Canada. I am coloring in and labeling the provinces.

Art:

I am using perler beads to make My Little Pony figures. So far, I've made Twilight Sparkle and Rarity.
